We begin this trip in a small and pleasant Salamanca town at the foot of the mountains, with a touch of alpine air and the tranquility of the mountain villages. There are many places in Spain to spend a few days in contact with nature and disconnect from the rush and noise of the cities. Candelario is one of them, and we will tell you why we have chosen him.
Granadilla, in the province of Cáceres, is one of the most impressive abandoned towns in the Spanish geography. It is a beautiful walled town, near the Comarca de las Hurdes, built on a peninsula that sheltered the waters of the Gabriel y Galán reservoir. In the middle of the 20th century it had to be evicted as it became a flood zone, for which the residents were forced to abandon their homes.
